Yeah, because it'll centralise the fediverse more. Although I think if Lemmy.world was bought by Elon Musk tomorrow and turned off federation, the fediverse would survive. In fact, I reckon a large amount of people would move off of Lemmy.world due to the principal of federation.

Was previously kbin.social and moved to lemmy.world for a better experience. Can confirm I would move off if .world ever posed an huge issue even outside of your example.
