I think the only thing to stop the tariffs is someone brave with a rifle.
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a terrific is a good guy with a tarrif
Trump would get lost in the sentence much more
No, it's north of ten million people deciding they've had enough and actually doing something about it.
Deciding risking ruining their life is preferable to continue living as they are. A true revolution will see a lot of imprisonment, abuse, and blood. Guantanamo would be a childish game compared to what a dying regime will do to stay in power.
Stupid kids speaking about revolution have seen too many movies and video games. Look up at Syria of Gaza if you want to see an asymmetrical battle against the most funded army in the world.
TL:DR: Things have to get immensely worse before you recruit your freedom soldiers. It’s more feasible to work from inside the political system, which also takes decades.
Is it me or do Americans have weird ideas of how a revolution actually looks like? Like y'all realize that the military can, and in many cases will, simply refuse orders to fire on peaceful protesters right? Doubly so in a still-sorta-democratic country like America. You'll see more than a few arrests, hell even a few deaths, but most people should come out of it relatively unscathed. If the military does fire on protesters before a complete fascist takeover then, well, that's the death knell of the regime right there.
Syria was the exception in the Arab spring.
You don't have decades. America is being taken over by fascists now.
After the Kent State Massacre I don't think there is any doubt in our minds that the military will fire on us. In addition we have an incredibly militarized police force that also has complete authority and desire to kill citizens. I don't foresee the two clashing, which would be our only hope of a relatively bloodless revolution.
We just assume every country is like that.
A fascist government will fire on innocent protestors, or at least imprison them so they can be disposed in private. Has happened in many countries in America (the continent). Tiananmen is not something only the Chinese government can do, something equivalent happened in Tlatelolco, Mexico, in a democratic regime that was a dictatorship in disguised
We’ve seen how USA is willing to rescind human and civil rights just for being on an airport or border, American citizens included, for “national security “. Now imagine what a government leaded by the likes of Trump and Elon would do. All your information is in the hands of tech megacorps, and those will hand it to your government in a heartbeat. Geolocation, contacts, sleep hours, you name it. It would be incredibly asymmetrical.
Yes, and America isn't that—yet. See: The protests in Turkey. There are millions of people in the streets of Turkey protesting and they're presumably not getting shot. The lesson is clear: Do not obey in advance.
Good guy with gun
A thousand such someones, all with great success, still won't be enough.
