Man, Iron Blooded Orphans was just on a completely different vibe and level than most modern Gundam in my opinion. What a tragic, awesome, and triumphant story throughout and the Barbados was bad ass.
It truly was. Witch and the new one that's coming out are just not my jam.
Right? Like... I love most of the UC stuff. I just want a war drama with badass pilots getting the job done for something other than just glory. Mikazuki was forging a new future. It had more of a Gurren Lagann fight the power vibe than anything, but it was great.
Have you watched Gundam Thunderbolts? It's a short form anime but it should give you the hit you're looking for.
Not yet, but I'll have to check it out.
