Explanation: Despite enduring myths on the subject, the Soviet military was not short of small arms in WW2.
Wait, so the whole thing about one soldier carrying ammo and the other carrying a gun is untrue?
Yeah. Soviets had manufacturing capabilities out the ass. Russia is still using old Soviet armored vehicles in Ukraine. Granted, they're getting it blown up as fast as possible, but still.
Funnily enough, from what I'm reading in a cursory search, the more likely culprit for this phenomenon would be the Volkssturm: the last ditch national militia that the Nazis set up in late 1944. By this point, they were scraping the bottom of the barrel to outfit troops (and to find troops to outfit, for that matter). I didn't find anything that confirmed on the historical record that any such event occurred, but it seems more likely than the defenders of Stalingrad being without armaments.
Their dicks were pretty small from malnutrition for sure and they did use them as weapons on basically every woman and girl they could catch.
Why only small arms? Was it an army of T-Rexes?
