Man, look at the fault line map. I had seen news reports about Thailand and how they don't generally consider earthquakes when building new buildings, but it makes perfect sense looking at this... the fault lines just aren't there...

Yeah it's nuts how the fault line runs right down the middle of Myanmar and nothing in Thailand. there's a detailed earthquake science article in the pinned thread.
