~~Leclerc and Gasly's cars were also found to be underweight, but the official documents have now been recalled. F5 time I guess.~~ New documents are up now, both DSQ

Because it's a penalty for a race that's already over obviously

Ah it happened after the race? Ok then it makes sense.

[โ€“] Jumi@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Did you actually think they weigh the cars mid race?

[โ€“] Krik@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 9 months ago (2 children)

No I thought they do that before the race.

Which would make a whole lot of sense as it has an influence on the whole race if some of the cars are out of spec...

That would penalize teams that run a more efficient fuel or engine. Since that would force them to carry more fuel than necessary. Also they wouldnโ€™t catch Lewisโ€™ skid block violation before the race. Since everyone gets new skid blocks before the race. The skid block is to catch people who violate the ride height requirement. The skid block will wear down during the race if it wears down too much the FIA knows that the car was too low. Ride height is hard to measure on a stationary car since downforce and suspension settings influence how low it gets during a race.

I see, sorry for being condescending.
