datahoarder
Who are we?
We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.
We are one. We are legion. And we're trying really hard not to forget.

I'm looking for 10 ๐ 8 spinners and 2 2.5" SSDs for cache. I've had good luck with AliExpress boards. I'm about to set up a miniPC cluster from them, too.
Options that aren't perfect for me but might be for you:

Thank you! You got me thinking here. Maybe several minis are better than one fat new ryzen with so many cores on an ATX board? But the mini's fans are usually ugly loud when doing some real work.
I need to read actual benchmarks and then compare...
Yea, I realized how quick a Ryzen 5825u is at 15w. Just loaded 2 with 2x 1TB drives and 64GB RAM. Will be running mail server/DNS/VPN/Samba AD replicated across them, plus a bunch of other single services.
Happy to keep you posted as I go. I'll probably end up de-casing them in a 10" rack.
