ooh, Electrical Engineer here, I can answer this one!

No.

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 68 points 2 years ago (1 children)

As a computer engineer, don't listen to my advice, once things go above 12v they get scary for me

[–] spicytuna62@lemmy.world 30 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Ever short a car battery? Even 12 volts gets pretty scary pretty quick when you send it at like 700 amps.

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Oh, 100%. But I also don't typically work with 8kW power supplies. And typically I'm not the path of least resistance.

[–] suction@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Volts, amps, watts are an outmoded and unnecessary overcomplication to describe the power of an electric current. If toxic males are serious about curing their loneliness, first course of action would be to strike at least two of them.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 24 points 2 years ago (2 children)

how did you find out? you shouldn't be sabotaging at work

[–] WagnasT@lemmy.world 25 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The same way an EMT knows you should wear PPE when riding a motorcycle.

Anyway, the ones that do this shit tend to be hard R republicans and I know they didn't fix their lonliness because right before they will say 'i use arc btw'.

[–] Droechai@lemm.ee 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I misread and started wondering what Arch Linux had to do with republicans who sabotage physical infrastructure

[–] SandbagTiara2816@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I misread and I’m still wondering. Can you please help me out here?

[–] sparkle@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Arc as in like... electrical arc? electricity/plasma that jumps to a surface through air? substation casts lightning spell on redneck

Oh yeah… arc flash. That makes sense

[–] Droechai@lemm.ee 3 points 2 years ago

No idea, but I guess its not Arch-related

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 22 points 2 years ago

Ah, the EA games argument.

How do you know this game is crap when it’s not even out yet?

Sometimes, you know.

[–] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 13 points 2 years ago

Electrician here, please no.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

As an industrial engineer it’s obviously industrial sabotage that’s the solution

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Pardon me, but the qualification to answer this is if you're lonely or not. Not whether you're an electrical engineer.

I mean there is some overlap there, but we don't know your situation.

[–] WagnasT@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Nah, I don't have to be lonely to tell if these idiots shooting at my transformers are still lonely after. Pretty confident they are still starving for attention.

Am lonely though.

[–] scarilog@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Lonely electrical engineer here, I concur.

[–] Wanderer@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

If I built a catapult and fired a big arse log into the tower things wouldn't it look kick arse and make cool sparks and shit?

I feel like I would need some Bros to help make and manoeuvre the catapult obviously.
