I can still vote in general elections for whoever I want.

Heck, maybe they’ll listen to me more because I’m an independent voter in a swing state and not someone who they can take for granted as a party member.

If you want to give up any influence on who runs as Dem, then yep that makes sense.

There's almost four million Democrats in my state. My influence is so dilute that it's practically homeopathic. I'm fine giving that up.

If anything, being an independent voter in a swing state gives me more influence than being a loyal Democrat.

It would be awesome if my raindrop of a vote created a flood. Really it just elects someone with brain damage who insists he was never a progressive
