Note that ANN writes that this will be different than either the source or other adaptations:

The anime will retell the story from a different viewpoint than the novel and Hollywood's Edge of Tomorrow film adaptation

Neat! I loved the Hollywood movie so much I read the book and the manga.

Personally didn't like the hollywood movie at all, but loved both the manga and novel ( even own the manga physically ).

In terms of movies featuring Aliens, Tom Cruise, and a younger co-star, Oblivion beats Edge of Tomorrow without question.
