KOSA and other Bad Internet Bills (US-specific for now)

In late 2025, Congress is once again considering KOSA along with a package of other #BadInternetBills internet bills. EFF, Fight for the Future, ACLU, Woodhull Foundation, and dozens of other groups continue been sounding the alarm, and grassroots activisms have joined in to make it it clear that these bills are terrible ideas. Alas, Congress is now considering packaging them together—possibly into must-pass legislation. We're organizing to keep them from sneaking these bad internet bills through.

This community is for news stories, opinion pieces, and action links about these bad internet bills. Please help get the word out!

I guess they are happy now that Trump has promised to completely depopulate Gaza.

They were not very happy with Biden flattening Gaza.

Trump is giving Putin the green light to flatten Ukraine. Somehow the genocide in Ukraine wasn't as important.

Watch what he does, and not what he says.

He's talking about taking over Canada and Greenland as well, and that hasn't happened either. At this point, I think we can all agree he says a lot more than what he actually does.

Also, from the no-voting person's perspectives, they didn't vote for him either, so they are off the hook. From their perspective, they had no good voting options.

No. Because Trump's actions have caused people to die in Ukraine. It's not a vacuum where there are discrete outcomes. You have to accept responsibility for all your actions.

They tried to stop one genocide and created two.

They tried to stop one genocide and created two.

Some would argue then that the Democrats are to blame for not offering a good candidate that people could vote for, to avoid Trump winning.

You and I could go down this rabbit hole with a million reasons why a million things happened in a million different ways, and it won't change things.

But fundamentally, votes are earned, not given, or coerced.

That's just playing with words, and not very well, imho.

If I'm walking down the street and see a huge hole full of sharks in front of me, I don't need to be persuaded not to jump into the hole.

If I’m walking down the street and see a huge hole full of sharks in front of me

The only people who would want to jump in that hole would be people who don't want to live, really like sharks, or want to protest the lack of pothole repair of their local streets. Though I'd imagine the local/city news channel would probably want to film that for their evening news broadcast.

Regardless of what you think, you can't change people's minds on how they vote, especially by trying to coerce/guilt-trip them, when you can't see how they vote. Its up to them, not you/me.

Sharks notwithstanding, of course. lol

(Also, if I was you, in that scenario I'd call an aquarium to pick up the sharks, and not worry about the ethics of voting your choice vs what someone else tells you to vote for.)

There's a thing called "politics" and it's all about changing the way people vote.

Says the person who talks about potholes in streets full of sharks.

Also, didn't seem to work this last time. Just saying.

You can't guilt-trip people to voting for your guy, your guy has to earn those votes.

I apologize. Obviously what i thought was a light hearted metaphor has triggered something deeply disturbing to you. I apologize again.

Obviously what I thought was a light-hearted tease about the poor usage of a metaphor has triggered something deeply disturbing to someone, somewhere.

Also, noticed how you didn't respond to the point I was making. ...

I've apparently hurt you very deeply.

Again, I apologize.

Ahhh, the ole "I'm rubber and you're glue defense", a long-time favorite.
