what is incredible to me is that chatgpts deep research is pretty much on par with every other comparable model (deepseek r1, claude thinking, gemini) but is like 100x more expensive to run

i mean it's more expensive for openai, like the cost per million tokens is through the roof compared other models and they're still losing money annually
