A poor quality tomato can be worse than no tomato.

Agreed, but you shouldn't be getting sad soggy tomatoes when you order food out.

Then again I tend to make my own meals. (Due largely in part to price increases)

But a poor quality tomato with ketchup on top could be an improvement.

A friend of mine who worked at a sandwich shop introduced me to spike. I normally want my tomatoes cooked, but seasoned with spike is pretty good too
