This is an awesome catch-up mechanic. If you’re too good and capture too many of your opponent’s pieces, you get progressively drunker and thus worse in the game.
This leads to a whole new strategy: Winning the game while taking as few pieces as possible.
Or most pieces captured, depending on how alcoholic you are
