Not just the decision of rejecting or not but eating or not?

I’ve recently thought it’s best to just take it especially if it’s not from someone close them I can regift it as I see fit. But if it’s edible and I have no one to give it to it’s much harder!

I'm lucky in that my culture doesn't give non plant based gifts (except stuff with milk in it, but I'm vegetarian not vegan), especially without asking, so I have never faced this issue.

That’s really nice! Makes it a lot easier :)

Assuming you’re south asian, I also like that it’s normalized (in my experience) for some families particularly mothers to have a rule about no meat in the house and that’s followed. That doesn’t work for me.

yep, Indian American. And ppl just assume there's a good chance you're vegetarian and ask first, even non south asian friends, coworkers, etc.
