Mayo is used heavily in sandwiches and pizzas in the country

It so. Domino’s Japan has a corn & mayo pizza. Most pizza chains do.

Pizza Hut Japan has the Idaho Special: bacon, corn, mayonnaise, cheese and potato. It's honestly quite good.

It is so. Mayo is huge in Japan. Andrew Zimmermann did an episode on it, one of the few times he's struggled to eat something. https://www.travelchannel.com/shows/bizarre-foods/episodes/japan

Went to Asian market yesterday to pickup some stuff, and there's a whole section dedicated to mayonnaise.

They love their mayo.
