God, Trump is so excited about this too. Every time he talks about it I get this sinking feeling like he's going to order the US military to side with Russia over Europe and Ukraine.

At least now the US has a house and senate that might actually do their job and act as a check on unfettered executive power.

True, but it's far too late to mobilize that sort of force for a serious offensive. Like we're not already spread thin in the Gulf of Hormuz and running out of defensive interceptors. 🙄

An entire additional carrier strike group has already been mobilized and en route for a few days now

That's got to be one of the largest total US Navy deployments since WW2

To Hormuz? Or to Ukraine?

Or... they'll do the standard democrat thing, and be totally ineffective. Chuck'll write an angry letter, but still support the bullshit.

I condemn it!

I condom it?

I condone it* ¯_ (ツ)_/¯

Yes, we are soon about to find out if the system is truly as completely rigged as I think it is. Only truly naive people would ever believe that shadow money and deep state corruption only lives on one side of the ballot. When the odds are as fully and completely stacked in your favor as they are in the return-on-investment you get from political corruption, it doesn't only just make sense to corrupt both sides, it would be absolutely blindingly stupid not to. Hedging your bets always pays off, and you win no matter what. It becomes impossible to lose. Which explains why nothing ever seems to change meaningfully. We get some theatrics and some token changes to maintain the illusion but nothing ever really changes, because picking the right party or the wrong party isn't actually your issue.

You're looking for a far more competent conspiracy than evidence shows ever has existed.

There's definitely problems with many Democrats listening to the "political consulting class" and to rich donors, but a lot of the new ones elected are precisely those who are mad at those older politicians and donors, etc, who don't intend to hold back. A lot of them are challenging Schumer in public right now.

If you want things to happen, go and publicly back the ones who are ready for a fight

Most of those "poison pill" politicians like Platner just got kicked out

not if fetterman, schumer, hakeem gets in the way.

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 3 points 1 day ago

Right, which is why getting rid of those three - among others - should be one of the most immediate priorities.

If the USA and Russia team up, it gets pretty precarious here in Canada. One to the south, one to the north, and if the USA grabs Greenland, to the east and west too.

He will but at least now Congress might stop him

Only thing he has to do is pull back the troops stationed in Europa
