HOA are anti-social tyrants who force their idea of community onto a captive audience.
In one awful neighborhood I lived in, the locals put up literal road blocks so that peole could not drive in from another neighborhood and drop their kids off to trick or treat. Big stupid hand written sign and tactical suburban dads all standing around it.
I lived in the neighborhood and was driving my kids around because it was a giant neighborhood and there were a lot of big hills (kids were little then). I just drove around their stupid roadblock. Didn't say anything, didn't even look.
Douchenozzles.
Only if people are somehow forced into residing in one against their will. That's like saying “City councils are anti-social tyrants”.
