Not saying we should limit those essentials, but you do mention a phenomena that we should be aware of, and that's that any damage to economics at any level tends to have a ripple effect, whereby normal people wind up feeling the pain in some form. Could be as mundane as layoffs from "cost cutting," in response to the need for more security, or loss of assets, or anything really.
