I'm confused because if you already have oxytocin, wouldn't you NOT ache for another's touch? Wouldn't that have the opposite effect?
huh you raise a good counterpoimt to what he said. When youre already satisfied with your life excess oxytocin donest actually do anything, right? In my opinion most drug addicts dont have access to a rich life full of financial security, hobbies, achievements and friends snd things that make their life worth living. And in my opinion usually thats why they turn to drugs. In my opinion, they need something to fill the void of a lack of connection, of a lack of meaning, and lack of exhilaration. So personally I feel if youre already satisfied being alone and childfree or even satisfied after divorce after you had children more oxytocin wont convince you that you need to get another man under you.... I feel that youre already as happy as you can be in that state BECAUSE youre in that state.
Also someone in a satisfying and somewhat wealthy relationship will be more likely to have kids RIGHT NOW, as things currently are one study showed. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5505668/ So Im preetty sure you dont need to convince an eager parent or wanna-be-parent or eager partner to have children or stay with their spouse with oxytocin ...cause a satisfying life , satisfying love from their partner , their children , and their community, and satisfying future prospects will do that for you.
I think the lower birth rate can be several things.
Oxytocin is not the answer. The answer is fair wages, health care, decent and affordable education, homes that are affordable, no private equity in healthcare/education/residential real estate, telework flexibility when available, waste reduction and removal, third places other than churches and outdoor parks that are cold in winter, healthy food, and personal limits on screen time.
