That's normal in sailing boats to be fair, you want a keel made of something dense and lead remains a decent choice for that, it's more expensive than iron but offers more weight for the same hydrodynamic drag. Stability in a sailing boat requires a counterweight to the wind trying to blow you over.
What's not normal is trying to pour many tons of the stuff in your backyard in Oklahoma as an amateur. Also 'hydrodynamic' or even 'stable' are not words I'd associate with Seeker.
