It doesn't really make a lot of sense to run multiple streamers. It's kind of wild that Disney is still keeping Hulu alive, despite a heavy degree of integration.
It's a pretty big project, though - could take years.
Hulu is the only one I wish they would keep because logging in to Disney to watch Alien and ESPN still seems really wrong to me. I would prefer the Disney app be 100% kid friendly and Hulu be for everything else.
I'm guessing that they are more concerned about losing Hulu subscribers in the effort to transition them to Disney+. Outside the US, Disney and Hulu have been combined for years now, so the actual effort required from Disney would be near zero.
Hulu is on a staggered wind down schedule. Until relatively recently they didn't own 100% of it and so were keeping it alive to placate Comcast so they could buy it from them.
