Maybe 10 years ago that was true, but now ranges and charging speeds have gotten much better. The infrastructure of gas stations is still better for easy road trips without pre-planning though.
Where I live (Denmark) there is no need for planning your charging, there are charging stations everywhere. I think the same is true for Sweden and Norway.
It's only a matter of when the infrastructure is established enough. Scandinavia is among the more developed regions with regard to charging infrastructure, but it will be the same in other countries soon.
The US doesn't do infrastructure. Bridges barely work.
Yes USA is a funny country, one of the richest countries in the world, but for some reason they can't afford basic infrastructure and healthcare for all?
