One thing I've noticed (in education and technology, since that's where I spend most of my time) is that a lot of times the things that make things better for people with disabilities also make things better for people without disabilities, so I think your perspective is something that companies could take on as a means of making their product better for everyone.
I have a friend who's colorblind (protanopia, I think?); hilariously, he's married to an artist whose style inovolves subtle differences between colors, but anyway, I do often have the problem where I'll be showing him something and he'll have to tell me "I can't see that." Most often it's red text on black, I think. I've thought a lot of times that, hey, the stuff you have trouble seeing is also stuff that's less clear for me, too. And as computer-literate people keep getting older, fixing that is going to become more and more important.
All that to say, I read it all and I think you're absolutely right. The backlash to Apple's Liquid Glass should've been a wakeup call.
