Seems like in France the far right/left are both on Putin's paycheck. What a piece of shit.

This will be very bad for Ukraine, when France has their selections next year. Hopefully until next year, something changes that prevents any of those parties to take power.

It's less black than this. LFI was not paid by putin, has confusing positions about Ukraine but they are not far left and they do make clear statement they support Ukraine independance and Ukraine territorial integrity. This statement (with hostile media relay) is about controling media buzz according to melenchon (not 100% sure it'd genuine). I don't trust him to be as supportive to Ukraine's independance as he sometimes says. So they would not support Ukraine as much as they need or as he says but they have nothing in common with russia-loving far-right. The sad news is far right now has a good chance to pass. (I'm french)

Anywhere in the west. Russia sponsored both the far left and the far right with the goal to destabilise countries and split societies.

societies are split by liberal bourgeosie elections mainly between liberals and conservatives.

This will be very bad for Ukraine, , when France has their selections next year.

For ukraine, for europe and eventually for france. Only him and his masters will win.

I'm not terribly familiar with French politics. France does have other significant left wing parties, but they (presently) hold fewer seats and are less hard left.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Party_(France)

The Socialist Party (French: Parti socialiste [paʁti sɔsjalist], PS[a]) is a centre-left[2][3][4] to left-wing[5][6][7][8] political party in France. It holds social democratic[9] and pro-European views.[10][11] The PS was for decades the largest party of the "French Left" and used to be one of the two major political parties under the Fifth Republic, along with the Rally for the Republic in the late 20th century, and with the Union for a Popular Movement in the early 2000s. It is currently led by First Secretary Olivier Faure. The PS is a member of the Party of European Socialists, Progressive Alliance and Socialist International.

The Ecologists – Europe Ecology The Greens (French: Les Écologistes – Europe Écologie Les Verts), commonly known as The Ecologists (French: Les Écologistes, LÉ) and formerly as **Europe Ecology The Greens[**2] (French: Europe Écologie Les Verts [øʁɔp ekɔlɔʒi le vɛʁ], EELV [ə ɛl ve]) until 2023, is a centre-left[3][4] to left-wing[5][6] green[7] political party in France. The party is a member of the European Green Party.[8] It was formed on 13 November 2010 from the merger of The Greens and Europe Ecology.[9]

Same for me, but some of my French friends explained it to me in the last presidential election.

One problem is they can have two rounds. If no one candidate achieves 50% of the vote, there will be a second one in which you most likely then have to decide between far left and far right. So I guess a lot of moderate would not go to vote in a second round.

No, you usually get to chose between a fuckwad and extremists.

We've had nothing but fuckwad presidents for decades.
