A place to share screenshots of Microblog posts, whether from Mastodon, tumblr, ~~Twitter~~ X, KBin, Threads or elsewhere.
Created as an evolution of White People Twitter and other tweet-capture subreddits.
RULES:
- Your post must be a screen capture of a microblog-type post that includes the UI of the site it came from, preferably also including the avatar and username of the original poster. Including relevant comments made to the original post is encouraged.
- Your post, included comments, or your title/comment should include some kind of commentary or remark on the subject of the screen capture. Your title must include at least one word relevant to your post.
- You are encouraged to provide a link back to the source of your screen capture in the body of your post.
- Current politics and news are allowed, but discouraged. There MUST be some kind of human commentary/reaction included (either by the original poster or you). Just news articles or headlines will be deleted.
- Doctored posts/images and AI are allowed, but discouraged. You MUST indicate this in your post (even if you didn't originally know). If an image is found to be fabricated or edited in any way and it is not properly labeled, it will be deleted.
- Absolutely no NSFL content.
- Be nice. Don't take anything personally. Take political debates to the appropriate communities. Take personal disagreements & arguments to private messages.
- No advertising, brand promotion, or guerrilla marketing.

Ooof. Yeah, I've met other parents like that. "so dangerous and full of immigrants" definitely paints a picture, for sure. There are folks all over the place who feel, despite evidence to the contrary, like the world is so much more dangerous than it used to be. I think that those two things have to go together--the whole "Fox News makes people afraid of immigrants for fun and profit" thing, though I have also met some left-of-center people in that same boat, so who knows.
If you compare the times I grew up and when that girl grew up, i lived a lot more dangerously: traffic was very heavy around my home and noone gave a shit about things like "school areas", speed limits were a higher and were violated by a lot more people, and crime rates were insane compared to her childhood. I actually grew up in one of the worst areas in town with peep shows, sex workers, gambling and drugs being a lot more prevalent than in most parts of the city (and the criminal activities weren't driven by immigrants, but by the autochthonous people around) . These days the traffic is still insane (it is THE main artery of the city after all), but the side streets have all been made 30 km/h zones and seedy establishments have been replaced with specialty shops and higher-end night clubs (who have the advantage that they can crank up the volume, because it won't even register with people next to the heavy traffic)
