Still dealing with the fallout of the companies decission to not update one of the self instanced tools we use. "It will cause outages", "we will do it in a quite month"
So anyway the service got popped last week and the team only reacted to it on Tuesday... The CVE and patched versions were released on the 28th of August...
This week was a fun week
Oh damn, I hope the blast radius wasn't too wide?
I'm currently in government where we aren't allowed to run our own stuff, everything new has to be cloud services.
We will see. It was our package repository so a bunch of repackaged libraries with malicious code potentially got pushed. Not a massive amount of fallout for my team, just rebuilds and redeploys. An interesting chat to our newest developer,
"Oh we cant push to production just yet i need to run the test suite on the QA environment."
"Look, any other day you would be right. Right now i would much rather have a broken production than a compromised production"
