They also capture your car’s make, model, color, and identifying features such as dents, roof racks, and bumper stickers, often turning these into searchable data points. These cameras collect data on millions of vehicles—regardless of whether the driver is suspected of a crime. Yeah it was the branding that was the problem. If this leads to multiple smaller companies replacing them, though, that is, arguably, a marginal improvement. If all of the tracking data is not centralized through one company, then it is more difficult to combine all of that data trackers to get one cohesive record of ones movements over a larger area. But that is really only a temporary fix until they all work together to streamline datasharing.
