Reddit is 80%+ bots so I don't expect those accounts to shift platforms. But I do imagine some former reddit users will trickle over as it continues to alienate its fanbase with stupid choices like getting rid of old reddit.
Most of Reddit's users do not post, comment, or even vote.
Reddit's product is the ability to sell people the perception of a natural conversation between two ordinary people on the internet, where the conversation is shaped by corporations and state agents.
Actual ordinary people get in the way of that. Reddit does not want users.
Tbf the 90-9-1 rule applies everywhere on social media, ostensibly including here though many claim to have merely lurked there yet actually talk here. But we may still have a 51-48-1 distribution here?
I definitely feel more motivated to participate here, because of the emphasis on human to human interactions
Same. I only lurk on certain Reddit threads, rarely, bc we lack niche ones here.
Can attest to that. I tried starting a new reddit account with an anonymous email just to talk to people. Apparently reddit assumed I was a bot and shadow banned me within a week. Never had that with any other emails.
Actually all new accounts are shadowbanned by default automatically if they start commenting too much right away. 3 months old gives you full privileges.
It's a lot of dead internet with most posts being dredged up reposts and celeb gossip/worship (which has gotten way worse btw). It's starting to resemble instagram "memes' and the nerdier shit is definitely coming over here.
istg, what's with all the harvesting they've been doing of cat pictures over there?: 11 hours ago, 5 hours ago, 5 hours ago, 6 hours ago, 26 minutes ago ...
It can't all be karma-farming.

Man you’ve got to be logged in to Reddit to see old Reddit now. The vast majority of us can’t see that.
