Man I always eat the onion on Jack Kimble, because I could easily picture a real Republican politician saying exactly his words.

But I don't know what the better satire is - the implication that congress does actual work any days of the year, or that there aren't plenty of idiots in congress already

Oh I'm not from the US - I just know far too much about their politics from osmosis on this site.

Having said that, where I'm from still has plenty of fuckwit politicians to work with, so your point is still valid
