From an ethical perspective, sure.

I have vegan leather boots I bought over ten years ago that still look brand new

I have second-hand leather clothing and shoes that are more than 30 and 20 years old respectively and still in good shape. I'm not buying any new leather these days, but I also won't buy any replacement if if isn't going to last.
