God, getting that news right before surgery must be devastating. Not that it's not devastating either way, but to have it snatched away right before it happens would make me insane.
There will be suicides for sure.
I mean, it already happens on the stupidly long waiting lists, so this basically guarantees it. So fucking pointlessly cruel.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: never kill yourself for something that's somebody else's fault.
The cruelty is the point. They don't want trans people to exist, but they refuse to do something they believe would dirty their hands, so they force us into impossible situations, and when suicide obits pop up, they believe themselves to be good people because they knowingly ignore the connection between their actions and those of the dead.
Yeah, OK, point taken. I should probably have said, "Such a pointless fucking waste", or something.
I assume from your comment that you're trans... I'm curious, speaking as a dumb cis guy who's gradually realising no amount of "solidarity" is ever going to be enough... what do you think is the number one thing people could/should be doing to make life even a little bit easier for trans people? Is there anything you wish we knew? 'Cause the media sure isn't going to tell us if there is. 😬

Visibly support us, show the world that we are just people. I think in general people are ignorant about us and most support us but when media vilifies us, people build the wrong idea about us and descriminating against becomes more acceptable to them. So anything to show them we are just people like everyone else is great

E: to answer your other question: fight back and talk to cis people about it. We've been screaming from the rooftops for an eternity to deaf ears.
