It feels like the apps started charging an insane amount per message which probably made a lot of people match and then go quiet.

Last time I checked, there are platforms where you pay per message, but on these platforms no one you see is real.

They are absolutely not charging per message. You don’t need to pay a penny on any of the major dating apps.
