Anime characters with adorable animal characteristics, ears, tails, fur, etc.
- Posts must feature "kemonomimis". That is, anime characters with animal features such as cat ears, bunny tails, paws, and so on.
- No nudity. Lewd art is fine, but mark it NSFW.
- If posting a more suggestive piece, or one with simply a lot of skin, consider still marking it NSFW.
- Include a link to the artist in post body, if you can.
- AI Generated content is not allowed.
- Positivity only. No shitting on the art, the artists, or the fans of the art/artist.
- Finally, all rules of the parent instance still apply, of course.
SauceNao can be used to effectively reverse search the creator of a piece, if you do not know it.
You may also leave the post body blank or mention @saucechan@ani.social, in which case the bot will attempt to find and provide the source in a comment.

What do you even mean?
Does this metadata show up in lemmy in some way I'm not aware of?
Edit: I downloaded your webp, and I still can't see what you're referring to. Did you use a filehost that doesn't strip metadata to prevent stuff like accidentally doxxing yourself through the geotag?

Yeah.
Here is YOUR image.
Keep scrolling to the XMP

You mean not re-downloading the file to check what is actually getting served.
ah, lemmy is stripping metadata.

Apologies.
Here’s the crop+meta catbox.
You're still cropping it. Don't. You're damaging the one way people actually use to find out where an image originated. It's also the one way that survives no matter what happens to the file format or metadata.
Metadata will be lost whenever the file is hosted, proxied, thumbnailed, screenshoted or whatever. And because the internet in general aggressively strips this stuff, no-one really cares online unless the site is specifically about image organizing.
Instead it's an organization tool mostly used for local image archives. The people who would think to look at metadata are a fraction of a fraction, and the same ones who would think to add it when it isn't there for future reference.
Even though I use it myself for my local files, I'm not bothering to implement that for a bot whose main goal is to maintain LEMMY activity, and whose secondary goal is to drive clicks to the artists actual socials TODAY. Adding such metadata to my online posts has never, ever crossed my mind as potentially useful.
Especially on the fediverse, many instances don't even serve the original url, but will insert a stripped and re-hosted proxy copy, for security reasons. Or a thumbnailed smaller file, for speed.
This metadata doesn't live long once a file is online.
Here is this file, as seen by my ani.social account:
https://ani.social/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Ffiles.catbox.moe%2Fzkkfy4.webp&format=webp&thumbnail=1024I'll save you the trouble, I checked. The metadata, even in this catbox hosted copy of the file, is gone.
