My friend's kid is hooked on Ponyo right now, and I feel like that will be the Miyazaki film burned into her soul from here on forward.

In terms of the animation it would just have to be another Ghibli film, they simply look the best. Whisper of the Heart and When Marnie was there stand out in my mind as the most beautiful ones

In terms of everything together, I'll actually say the series Spectacular Spiderman. The art style is incredibly basic, which is what makes it so good. The whole series is wonderful precisely because of how much they did with so little. It's a perfect TV series. So naturally they cancelled it prematurely.

Honourable mention to L'Roi et L'Oiseau, which just holds an important place in my heart and was one of the first movies I ever watched.

There are so many spider-man forms of media that I'm unfamiliar with most of them. I'll definitely check out spectacular. Thanks.

I'm happy to see so many French recommendations, I love how seriously their culture takes animation specifically.

I feel like I may have seen that at some point, I'm putting it on my watchlist to check.
