What is a Tankie?

Basic Rules:

Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users, as it handwaves their extremism.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post, rather than engaging in arguments that lack mutual agreement.
Brigading/Trolling — If you're here because this community was linked in another thread, please refrain from maliciously voting, commenting, or manipulating the post in any way. This includes alt accounts. All votes are public, and if you are found to be brigading, you will be banned. Good-faith and honest communication is an exception.
Tankies can explain their views, but may be criticised or challenged for them. Any minor infraction of the rules may result in a warning and possibly a temporary ban.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically last only 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction doubles the duration. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.

I'm still getting downvoted for asking about the error you admit was on your end. There is something broken about reddit-style comment threads, where once someone has a negative number beside their name, people insist on the shittiest possible reading, no matter how thoroughly that's contradicted by follow-up comments. The words cease to matter. It's a terrible habit people need to break out of.
To say what?
None of this freeform hassling over complete phantasms ever has any good answer for why someone demanded explanations, ignored them, and continued giving me shit about a meaning of their own invention. When a follow-up makes crystal clear: the problem is them them them, and the response is still 'so the problem is us?!,' I am not convinced any sequence of words would be read for what they fucking say.
Your options here include admitting you twisted two sentences beyond recognition, then treated every direct effort to politely address your bewildering questions like they were unjustified frothing vitriol. Nobody who pulls this shit ever takes that option. You admit it was a complete misunderstanding, you can see there's no basis for it, you can read the several times I tried steering you right, and you're still going to pretend this is a me problem. Not so much as an "Oops." Just "I guess." Yeah, you "guess" you repeatedly inferred the polar opposite of whatever I said. Why didn't I just say the opposite of the opposite of that?
I don't want to be the kind of asshole who instantly escalates any confused response by asking 'who the fuck are you talking to?' But it's repeatedly proven simpler, more reliable, and safer than trying to deal with shit like this in gentle terms. Moderators have lurched out to slap me when someone acts aghast at every dry-as-a-bone explanation of how I meant... what I said... and the other guy... is just confused. Once you've jacketed all responses in a snot-nosed sarcastic tone of voice, what explanation would work?
