I'd say extremists are gullible, which is why they inevitably come under the influence of authoritarians.
Any idiot can say the various extremist slogans, and the "radicalized" will be swayed and show a lot of loyalty towards anyone that does so. You talk to any extremist, whether far right or far left, they don't actually know how anything works, have no understanding of power dynamics. They just want to support anyone that says the same simple slogans they've been conditioned into repeating themselves.

Go talk to a leftist and they're going to demand you read 50 tomes of literature on politics and economics.
I talk to leftists on this site all the time. They just throw childish insults because they don't know anything about politics and economics.

Ok go read some Marx
Marx was not too bad on economics. Identified some real issues. On politics though? Concentrating power into a small group and expecting them to just give up power later? LOL shit doesn't work that way. Guy didn't understand politics at all. Thought everything was dialectical. Like a lot of authoritarian minded people, he didn't think people made a difference. He was wrong about that. Shitheads like Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot were bigger than his dialectical bullshit and they changed things in their respective countries in a very bad way.
To be fair to Marx, he lived around 150 years ago and didn't have the knowledge of how things would work out we have today. But we do have that knowledge, and history proved that not everything is dialectical, and concentrating power into the hands of a few people turns out badly.
BTW, the economic problems Marx identified were later solved by John Maynard Keynes. Do you understand Keynesian economic policy? It resulted in the peak of human prosperity. And no need for the violent overthrow of governments, and having to have a religious-like belief in the "state whithering away" LOL. At this point Marxism is ironically more like a religious movement than anything else. We have more knowledge about how things work than Karl Marx did, so it's really weird to take everything he said as if they're holy words.
