One could argue that. He sat in the chair to control the drones against the Goa'uld/Jaffa.
EDIT: Oh, you are probably referring to an entirely different Antarctica episode. The one in which we are introduced to the concept of the Antarctic gate. No, in that episode, he definitely did not fight an alien.
