It's literally baked into our DNA...

If we're socialized exclusively around people who share any charecteristic, then we will instinctively distrust people we meet later in life who don't share that characteristic.

Critical thinking can override those prejudices, until we start to age and see the natural effects of aging into our 60s.

That's why the only hominid left standing is homo sapiens and we have less genetic diversity than most endangered species.

That's why we still latch on to surface level differences like coloration, even though the most genetically diverse place on the planet, is filled to the brim with Black people. And there's more generic differation within "ethnic groups" than the averages between them.

The only way out of it, is raising kids in multicultural environments, or at least showing them multiple cultures on TV. Which is why the money behind the extreme right has always prioritized childrens education and media.

They want to raise a generation that sees skin color as "us/them" which is the result of "sperate but equal".

America is a mixing pot, it only works when everyone's in the same pot.
