Crime in the US during the Trump era is not about what you did but who you are.
If you're one of the in group, you can shoot someone on Fifth avenue with impunity.
If you're not, you can be abducted to a torture prison for no reason. Or you can be shot and killed by the regime paramilitary force.
To be fair, we already had an elite, above the law, and minority towns in which people were arrested for existing and killed routinely by law enforcement, but it was much less visible than it is now.
And the rest of us believed we had civil rights and rule of law.
I'll never forget polling was done on this by a reputable pollster:
