I like extraction games and I have a friend who likes them as well, we'll usually at least try every single extraction game that comes out. We tried Marathon but didn't buy it. Why? It was okay, but after closing the game, neither of us felt that "I want to play again" vibe, the game is just too much of the same, the only different thing is the graphics, which are not particularly that important for the type of game. But the main reason I didn't want to buy was even simpler: I did not want to spend money in a game that very likely would be plugged off too soon. I have no faith that Marathon will be a long term endeavor, so no point wasting my money and time with it.
Loving the irony of that name with how it's being perceived
This really explains how I feel about most new games. They're just checking the boxes of what a game should have, but the games are still missing that critical piece that draws me in
