I wonder if anyone at the guild will take responsibility if they got a bunch of newbies killed at a guild-organized exam quest. It seemed they did not take enough of a safety margin.

It's kind of hard to tell what the guild's priorities in this are. I mean, most of the newbs taking the exam weren't even ready for the expected low-level-zombie-killing fest. Maybe the guild feels the most efficient way to get rid of overconfident idiots is getting them killed (with appropriate "indemnify and hold harmless" clauses on the exam sign-up sheet). While that wouldn't be very nice of them, it isn't unusual for life in those types of fantasy worlds to be nasty, brutish, and short.

Any readers of the source material have any insight?
