This is masks off moment for old.reddit. They have already done device fingerprinting, usage analytics, IP address retention, and cookies before, so not asking for email was rather symbolic, token privacy feature anyway. Removing it only confirms what's already been there for years.
Use redlib, it's nice. You can disable JavaScript and use it through Tor for complete security and anonymity, subscribe to subreddits, and it also has a lot of themes to customize your experience with.
And you can export your settings and subscriptions to import on another redlib instance anytime, so you are never locked in using only one instance forever.
