Defibrillators. They don't start a heart that is stopped. They stop arrhytmias and give the body a chance to return to a normal rhythm.
Oh man! I never knew
Yeah, they're the heart version of "have you tried turning it off and back on again?"
Sometimes they don't even turn the heart back on. But that's still better than when the heart spasms uncontrollably. CPR and meds can then jump start the heart again.
Remember: 30 chest compressions to the beat of staying alive and then 2 breaths for resuscitation in repeat. Start this as soon as you find someone unconscious and not breathing. Pumping the heart as soon as possible is key.
I prefer using the beat of Queen's Another One Bites the Dust
Highway to hell works as well but might be a bit macabre.
