If you're going to get expensive hardware and be digital only, might as well go PC while you can. The money you save not having to pay PS Plus to play with friends would add up quick. Not to mention open source, privacy respecting options, no need to be online, modding, more welcoming communities, emulation, etc. If you want a console experience, you can use something like Bazzite or SteamOS.
Have a PS2 that's collecting dust because emulators exist and if i can't get it on PC it's not worth playing and it also has to be available when i go sailing because there are too many warning signs lately of corporations raiding digital libraries because of "expired licenses" and they can fuck right off with that excuse in the future, don't care i paid for that shit so go fuck your licenses!
