I don't believe Trump and people like him are pedophiles in the traditional sense of being attracted to the bodies of prepubescent children.
It's my belief that what gets them off is the pain they can cause to a vulnerable person. They get off on hurting more than just children, but children are one of the most vulnerable demographics.
A lot of violent sex crimes are based on the power dynamic rather then being sexually attracted to the victim. Trump's "grab them by the pussy" remark exemplifies this.

Thats why he is more accurately a rapist. There where instances where he raped legal adults, so it checks out. Of course, since children are vulnerable, it is more probable he'll go there - teenagers/young people would be his second choice followed by others.
In addition, the previous allegations of him being a infantophile further proves the point.
I think also mixed in: Getting off on being so powerful he can get away with it.
Which is also why the scandal bothers him so much. He wants to brag about all of the evil shit he gets away with. Pretending it didn't happen is like the worst possible outcome for him.
I believe pedophilia is a symptom of narcissism. I do not believe pedophilia is just a sexual orientation or preference. Narcissists are inherently predatory and will consume anything that gets them narcissistic supply with complete disregard, which can be any form of control, attention and/or power, and a captive child who is essentially helpless is the ideal prey for a predator like a narcissist.
I believe all pedophiles are narcissists, but I don’t necessarily believe all narcissists are pedophiles. Many narcissists hide it well, covert narcissists and vulnerable narcissists are especially hard to spot but they’re just as predatory.
Wow, like we need the nuance of why someone would dick a child.
Both are an issue.
To be fair, the Loli viewing weebs are disgusting, but a lot less harmful than someone chasing children actively.
But we, or at least someone, do needs to understand the brain of those who do it, even if just to prevent it happening in the future.
By understanding how that brain functions. We can learn how to spot early warning signs of it and eventually how to actually help a child who starts to exhibit some of the warning signs to nurture them to become healthy and functional members of the society.
