I feel like I'm a really good judge of character; I can tell if I'm not going to get along with someone or how they will treat me in the future. When it comes to high profile celebrity figures, i can get a sense of their character through very minimal data. This is why I predict Andrew Tate (toxic manosphere influencer) will pivot into becoming an alien conspiracy influence. But I have no evidence for it, thus the prediction is baseless.

Anyone have any similar beliefs/predictions?

Some other ones:

  • I think North Korea will be accepted back into the fold of the international community - this could occur through any of these 3 mechanisms: 1) "rehabilitated" to be more like other nations, 2) eventually proves its system to be successful, or 3) simply the US gives up on its shunning of the country. All evidence and past performance shows that it won't, but i still expect it to happen some time before 2075.
  • I don't think sentient aliens exist. Okay so there's the goldilocks nature of Earth's position which evidences in favour of my stance, but even without that, i just feel like we're alone
  • bonus showerthought: imagine if aliens in the future try to "cancel" humanity for basically committing intergalactic blackface by making things like Star Wars and Star Trek. That's my baseless prediction if aliens exist
  • I think the star wars sequel trilogy will be retconned out of canon

Regarding North Korea, it seems like it is a national decision instead of an international decision. There have been cases where trade was allowed to occur with North Korea and it was North Korea which chose to close the program.

Even now, North Korea could theoretically force a more open travel system with Russia and North Korea chooses not to. Hell, North Korea probably could get a peace treaty out of Trump and chooses not to.

I really doubt we're the only sentient life but we'll never meet any is my bet. The observable universe is mind bogglingly huge. The unobservable is so much bigger. So many stars, so many planets.

I have also had the thought that aliens might be offended by all the media humans have made about aliens

Especially all the ones depicting them as genocidal bodysnatchers xD

Which sequel trilogy? 1-3, or 7-9?

[–] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

7-9, i call 1-3 the Prequels. I think in a way retconning 7-9 is the most profitable thing disney can do with it, there have been a few silly rumours they might do it too.

They could also remake the prequels and get some real writers on them and make them good.

Looking at Disney's MCU ouvre, it's a blend of hits and misses, so I don't fully trust the company to not mess it up.

DIsney ruined the MCU with streaming, they were just producing slop post-endgame. apparently they are being fickle with DOCTOR who as well form BBC.

I'm in favour of leaving the prequels as they are, but it wouldn't upset me if they remade any of the movies. As long as it's an actual remake and not minute cgi changes or dumping CGI assets into the OT films (they did this).

Like, Disney could have and probably should have just done animated versions of the original trilogy, seeing as they chose to rehash the general shell of the story and pass it off as a sequel trilogy. I would not have cared if they did that - i would have avoided watching just to save money but i think that would be the logical first step for disney, childrens' animation producer, to do with Star Wars, beloved franchise, and it would have helped to draw in a new generation of fans.

If they'd even rehashed the story a bit, e.g "fixed the prequels," added more female protags in the OT, made it more sparkly and disney-esque, then that's fine. Loads of Sci-Fi franchises have had reboots like that, and fans are capable of seperating original from new wave interpretation (Stargate and I think Star Trek are some examples of this.)
