Way back at the beginning, when genAI was new and LemmyNZ had but one user, our logo was created. It's terrible, it's AI generated, and I hate it.

lemmyNZ logo - kind of a 3d lemmyish creature with green rays coming out, with an AI generated vibe

I am keen to get a new one! There's also an option to get a new banner if that's what people want, though people have expressed that they like the current banner.

lemmyNZ banner - the famous Laser kiwi flag that was submitted to the flag competition when NZ tried to change it's flag. It's black with a silver fern at top left, and a kiwi shape on the bottom right with a green laser coming out of it's eyes down to just above the bottom left corner of the flag

This post is to ask for people to supply their ideas for a new logo or banner. Hopefully there are some artists out there that can help! After we have some options I will organise a vote.

I wasn’t sure if there was ever a large version used anywhere.

The think about a platform as open as Lemmy, is you can never be sure, because anyone can make an app. There are all the different website versions you can use to access Lemmy, of which we host 6 other than the default one (7 total), but others could also be running their own web apps.

Then there are all the mobile apps, of which there are at least 13 across Android and iOS if you only count those still being updated.

I had a quick look across the web apps we host and a few mobile apps I had on my phone, and the logo for the instance seems to only show in that small format across everything I checked. Community icons are often larger, but I couldn't find any apps showing the instance logo in a large format.
