  2. Reddit fakes engagement with bots.

Edit: the posts there pony up the straw man of instances closing as a major interaction blocker. Is it an issue when it happens? Absolutely. Is it a maybe-once-a-year occurence so far that was important for like a week? Also Yes.

Plus, any alternative can close down. Regardless of being in the Fediverse or not. The main difference is that in the Fediverse you won't be losing everything once your alternative is closed.

it does hurt when a large instance closes down though.

It does. But it would hurt even more if that large instance was a non-federated platform.

it has been 50% bots a fews years ago, i think its more obvious now. especially with the interference from Palantir people were reporting palantir bots being on the site.
