Exactly this.

Find a New Rock station. Review the list of played songs. What is the average year that the song was released?

If it is a locally owned station, that year will be close to this year.

If it is owned by Clear Channel, it will be ~2008.

Its not that there isnt good music out there. Its that Clear Channel doesnt want to pay for it.
